Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE a STATE MOTOR FUEL TAX RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $2,150,000.00, for Construction Services for the 2020 SHERIDAN ROAD PROJECT (Eleanor Place to Richmond Avenue). (Council District 2)

Body
BACKGROUND: The attached motor fuel tax resolution will authorize funding for construction services for the 2020 Sheridan Road project. This resolution is required before the City can locally advertise for bids. Staff has coordinated this construction project with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and utility companies.

Previous State Motor Fuel tax resolutions were authorized by City Council for Preliminary Engineering Services for IDOT Section # 16-00370-00-EG. This motor fuel tax resolution will use an updated number of 18-00372-01-PV to change to a construction allocation.

Staff anticipates holding a bid opening for this project in January 2020.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The 2020 Community Investment Program authorizes the utilization of $2,150,000.00 of State Motor Fuel Tax dollars in 2020 for this project. This resolution does not award funds.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: This project will complete the roadway improvement between the Sheridan bridge, over I-74, going north through McClure Avenue. Residents have been anticipating the completion of this project.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Staff can move forward with preparations to advertise for bids in January 2020.
