BACKGROUND: On October 6, 2015, Councilmember Chuck Weaver submitted his letter of resignation from his At-Large Seat on the City Council due to his acceptance of the appointment to the Illinois State Senate to fill the remaining term of former State Senator Darin LaHood.
Under the applicable provision of the Illinois Municipal Code, the Mayor and City Council have 60 days after the vacancy occurs to fill the vacancy by appointment.
