BACKGROUND:
In July 2007, City Hall sustained a flood that started on the fourth floor and damaged most of the offices on the back half of the building. As a result, the Rediscovering City Hall Committee took the opportunity to develop a plan to restore the building back to the 1890's era, providing for necessary accessibility and technological improvements.

As part of the continuing renovation of City Hall, Facility Operations will be refurbishing City Hall Council Chambers (Room 400). This contract will include all materials and labor for the replacement with quarter sawn oak of the cracked oak doors, window and door trim, and wainscoting throughout the Chambers.

The Purchasing Division distributed six (6) bid packages and three (3) responses were received and opened on March 6, 2014. The responses are below:

The M/WBE Participation Waiver Request has been reviewed and approved by the Equal Opportunity Manager. Because all of the woodwork materials for this project will be manufactured and installed by Geo. J. Rothan Co. personnel, no subcontracting opportunities are available.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this project is included in the Community Investment Plan Project CB1400 account number 401-8401-551.50-02 for City Hall improvements.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The remodel of the City Hall building will be implemented as planned. The aesthetics of the building will be restored to a level closer to the look of the building in 1898. This work will be a major step in the renovat...
