BACKGROUND: The City of Peoria Traffic Division is responsible for traffic data collection. This data includes traffic flows, speed of traffic and traffic counts. This data is used by the City's Public Works, Police and Fire Departments.
The City's current traffic analyzing equipment is over ten (10) years old, is not as durable as newer equipment, its updates are not available, and the City is in need of replacement equipment. This old equipment will be traded in to offset the purchase cost of the new equipment.
The State of Illinois Joint purchasing contract is #4017197. End Date 6/30/15.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this project is provided in account 101-3351-544.49-04.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Citizens depend upon accurate information.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City of Peoria will have a reliable traffic analyzing equipment.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The City will continue to use its current, outdated equipment.
