Recommendation from the City Manager and Community Development Director to Approve a SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE from MIDCO, INC. of Two (2) Pole-Mounted Surround View/PTZ Camera Combinations for the WISCONSIN BUSINESS CORRIDOR, in the Total Amount of $25,261.10. (Council District 3)

BACKGROUND: In 2014, the Council adopted the Wisconsin Business Corridor Plan. The 2015 CIP included $100,000 in funds for the implementation of the plan. One of the stated goals for 2015 was to "continue to address crime issues in the area."
As part of addressing the crime issue, this recommendation would fund the purchase and installation of two visible security cameras on the Corridor. One camera would be placed on the west side of Wisconsin, between Kansas and Frye, across from Glen Oak School. The second camera would also be placed on the east side of Wisconsin at the entrance to the Kroger Shopping Plaza.
The cameras would consist of a 360-degree lens and a separate pan, tilt, and zoom lens. The cameras would be monitored from the Peoria Police Department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: $25,261.10 from the Wisconsin Corridor Project E15005
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: The residents of the area indicated that safety was a very high priority. The installation of these cameras will increase safety.
