Body
BACKGROUND: Public Works is continuing the pavement preservation program to preserve roads in good condition, in order to prolong their lifespan and delay costly major reconstruction projects. The slurry seal is an asphalt emulsion spread on a paved surface to extend the life of the pavement.

Public Works prepared the contract specifications, advertised the project for bids, and bids were accepted and opened on June 30, 2015, with one bidder submitting. This type of work is rather specialized, with few contractors in the area.
