Title
Communication from the City Manager and Community Development Director with a Request to Extend an Existing AGREEMENT Between the City of Peoria and PEORIA ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE, LLC Until December 31, 2016 (City-wide).
Body
BACKGROUND: On January 27, 2015, the City entered into an agreement with Peoria Architectural Salvage, LLC with the goal of saving items with resale, repurpose, or reuse value from structures that were to be demolished. While this program did not constitute a full deconstruction program, it did manage to save items that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill. A list of items salvaged from City demolition case houses (18 properties in total) is attached.
The current agreement expires on December 31, 2015. The administration is recommending that the contract be extended until December 31, 2016, with no changes to the program guidelines.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact on the City. Peoria Architectural Salvage, LLC has sold $2,640 worth of materials salvaged from City demolition projects in 2015.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: The community generally supports the salvaging of architectural elements.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The contract will be extended through December 31, 2016
IMPACT IF DENIED: The Contract will expire on December 31, 2015
