Communication from the City Manager with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending CHAPTER 3 of the CODE of the City of Peoria Pertaining to ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

BACKGROUND: On October 27, 2015 the City Manager presented to Council a balanced 2016 - 2017 Biennial Budget. As part of the budget presented, an increase in licensing fees related to Alcoholic Beverages was included. The attached ordinance reflects the increase in the various classes of liquor licenses. The last time licenses relating to Alcoholic Beverages were increased was in fiscal year 2004.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The increase in in licensing fees related to alcohol sales will provide additional revenues of approximately $88,680.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Citizens who participated in the Budget Challenge supported the increase in licenses in fees.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: Licensing fees relating to the sale of alcohol will be increased in accordance with the attached ordinance.
IMPACT IF DENIED: Licensing fees relating to the sale of alcohol will not be increased.
ALTERNATIVES: Increase, decrease or leave licensing fees relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages the same.
