Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE VACATING 166 Feet by 20 Feet (0.076 Acre) of an Alley Bounded by DOUGLAS STREET and MOSS AVENUE in Peoria, Illinois.  (Council District 2)

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  Councilman Grayeb has been working with this neighborhood to address various cut through traffic concerns. The adjacent property owners have requested the vacation of 0.076 acre of the alley as shown on the attached location map. The rights-of-way described are no longer of value to the public, and city staff has no objection to this vacation.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:   This vacation is requested by the neighborhood.

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED:  The adjacent property owners will take ownership of one half of the width of the alley for their use and assume all future maintenance.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:   City will continue to maintain the alley, and it will remain public land.
