Body

BACKGROUND:  The Sheridan Road Bridge, originally built around 1915, carries Sheridan Road over the Dry Run Creek, north of Richmond Street.  This aging bridge was showing signs of structural deficiencies, such as surface loss on the steel beams and severe cracking in the abutments.

The project was awarded Federal major bridge funds that are administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation and was on a March 2016 letting.  The major bridge funds represent 80% of the cost of construction and construction engineering.  This Motor Fuel Tax Resolution covers the remaining 20% share that the City of Peoria portion.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Funding will come from State Motor Fuel Tax revenue.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Sheridan Bridge serves as a connection in Peoria.

IMPACT IF APPROVED:  The construction and construction engineering matches will be paid by utilizing State Motor Fuel Tax Dollars.

IMPACT IF DENIED:   Unrestricted capital dollars will be utilized to cover the City’s 20% match.
