Body
BACKGROUND: The existing Boilers were installed when the building was built in 1995. The boilers are experiencing repeated maintenance and parts failures. The 300 gallon hot water storage tank for domestic water will be replaced with a 125 gallon tank.

By Replacing the equipment and controls, The City will be able to capture energy savings and utilize temperature setbacks when parts of the building are not in use.

Obrien Bros. $179,000
PIPCO $189,720

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this project will come from Capital Project account # CB1708

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The equipment will be ordered after Council approval and installed before November in anticipation of the heating season. The City will see savings on electricity and gas bills with a much more energy efficient system.

IMPACT IF DENIED: The equipment will not be ordered and the existing equipment will continue to be used. In the unfortunate event that the existing Boilers would fail during the winter, the City would be forced to find an alternate location to house the Police Department as there would be no heat for the building.
