Communication from the City Manager with a Request to APPROVE an ORDINANCE Amending CHAPTER 27 of the CODE of the City of Peoria Pertaining to the AMUSEMENT TAX.

BACKGROUND: On October 26, 2017, as part of the budget deliberations, the City Council gave direction to increase the Amusement Tax from two (2) percent to three (3) percent. The attached ordinance reflects the change requested by Council.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The 1% increase in Amusement Tax will provide additional revenue of approximately $491,000.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: No concerns expressed at the budget hearing or during citizens’ address the Council.
IMPACT IF APPROVED: The Amusement Tax rate will be increased to 3%. Additional revenues of approximately $491,000 will be available to the General Fund
IMPACT IF DENIED: The Amusement Tax will not be increased.
