ACTION REQUESTED: 

Title

Communication from the City Manager and Interim Director of Public Works with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending CHAPTER 31 of the CODE of the City of Peoria Pertaining to STORMWATER UTILITY.

BACKGROUND: 

The Stormwater Utility Ordinance was passed on December 5, 2017, under item number 17-328.

 

Under Section 31-164(a), Staff is requesting to amend the ordinance by adding language to the table to specify that the fee is per month, which is consistent with the previous council communication and public outreach.

 

Once amended, the table under Section 31-164(a) will read “$/1,000 square feet of impervious area per month” (See attachment)

 

Bills will continue to be sent on a quarterly basis.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Language will be added to the aforementioned section to specify that the Stormwater utility fee is calculated per month.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  Language will not be added and may lead to speculation about Stormwater utility fee calculations.
