BACKGROUND:  Solar voltaic power systems have become a booming industry and Peoria is seeing an influx in installations of these energy generating systems. Solar voltaic power systems are required to be installed in compliance with the fire code, and the fire department reviews the plans and inspects the installation to ensure code compliancy for the safety of our citizens and our fire personnel.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The City of Peoria will have an increase in revenue due to the permit fees required for these energy systems.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  N/A

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED:  Revenue increase and the ability to ensure safe and efficient installation of solar voltaic power systems.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  Possible increase in fire incidents due to unsafe and uninspected solar voltaic power system installations.
