Title

Communication from the City Manager and Director of Community Development with a Request to Concur with the Recommendation from the Planning & Zoning Commission and Staff to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending Appendix A, the Unified Development Code, Relating to WAREHOUSE, SELF SERVICE, INDOOR MULTI-STORY STORAGE.

Body

BACKGROUND:  Recent inquiries for re-use of vacant big box buildings into indoor self-service warehousing/storage have led staff to re-examine the regulations.

Currently, indoor self-service warehousing/storage is only permitted in buildings with a minimum of two stories.  Staff is proposing to eliminate the requirement for two stories to allow greater opportunity of re-use for single story buildings.

The Planning & Zoning Commission found that the request met the Findings of Fact and voted 6 to 0 to APPROVE.

See the attached Planning & Zoning Commission case packet and meeting minutes for detailed information.
