A. ACCEPT the FY2020 CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING GRANT from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) of the Department of Justice (DOJ), in the Amount of $201,173.00; and

B. ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending the City of Peoria 2020 - 2021 BIENNIAL BUDGET Relating to the General Fund to Recognize the Receipt of Grant Funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance Providing the FY2020 CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING GRANT, in the Amount of $201,173.00.

BACKGROUND: In April 2020 City staff received notification of available funding under the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

The CESF Program is designed to assist municipalities and governmental bodies with costs associated with prevention, preparation and response to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The intention is to use these funds to supplement police overtime incurred as a result of COVID-19, as well as equipment and supply costs associated with the preparation, planning and response to COVID-19. Any other applicable expenses associated with COVID-19 will also be considered.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The city of Peoria will receive $201,173.00 in federal funds to supplement expenses associated with the prevention, preparation and response to COVID-19.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City will be able to supplement the costs associated with the impact of COVID-19 on business operations.

IMPACT IF DENIED: The City will lose the opportunity to utilize $201,173.00 in federal funds to supplement the costs associated with the preparation, planning and response to COVID-19.
