Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE VACATING 125 Feet by 15 Feet (0.043 Acres) of an Alley Running Parallel to S. WESTERN AVENUE and Bounded Generally by W. HOWETT STREET and W. MILLMAN STREET in Peoria, Illinois.  (Council District 1)

BACKGROUND:  The subject land is a City alley, but is bordered on the east and west by City-owned parcels that are the intended site for the proposed Fire Station #4.  (Ref 20-100.)  Vacation of the alley will allow for the creation of a contiguous parcel.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  None.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  No City Department representatives or utility company representatives objected to the vacation of this land. One utility requested that the overall utility easement be reserved, and this language is incorporated into the attached ordinance.

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: The City will be able to utilize this land for the construction of a new Fire House #4.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The City will be not able to utilize this land for the construction of a new Fire House #4 and the footprint of the fire house would need to be reduced significantly to fit the existing parcels.
