Communication from the City Manager With a Request to RECEIVE and FILE a PRESENTATION on the IMPACT OF COVID-19 RELATING TO THE CITY’S BUDGET.

BACKGROUND:  The City Manager will provide a presentation to Council relating to the impact of the coronavirus disease. The presentation will provide an orientation of the issue, the current financial status should the shelter in place continue until July 1st, steps being taken by staff and options to consider to mitigate impact of loss of revenues.  

 

May 12 Update:

Council has provided direction on capital spending and staff has provided Council with 4 different scenarios.  Staff seeks additional guidance from Council on the level of operating cuts to seek in crafting a revised budget plan for 2020 and 2021.

 

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Should the shelter in place order remain in effect until July 1st, it is estimated that total City revenues could see reductions of $55 million.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Current service levels will be impacted.
