Communication from the Mayor and Council with a Request to APPROVE a RESOLUTION Endorsing the Affirmation of SHARED PRINCIPLES between the ILLINOIS NAACP STATE CONFERENCE and the ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE.

BACKGROUND: On March 18, 2020 the Illinois NAACP State Conference and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police issued an Affirmation of Shared Principles. The IACP asked Illinois Municipal League’s member municipalities to consider endorsing the Shared Principles document. The City supports the mission of both the NAACP and the IACP to defend and protect the civil rights of all citizens and to keep our communities safe. After review of the document, the City fully endorses the shared principles of these organizations by the attached Resolution.
