ACTION REQUESTED: 

Title

Communication from the City Manager and Director of Community Development with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending Appendix A, the Unified Development Code, Relating to TATTOO, PALMIST, PSYCHIC OR MEDIUM, OR MASSAGE PARLORS.

BACKGROUND:  This proposed text amendment is in response to the discussion held at the July Planning & Zoning Commission meeting regarding a massage business located in a Class C-1 General Commercial zoning district.  Currently Tattoo, Palmist, Psychic or Medium, or Massage Parlors are not permitted in the C-1 zoning district.  The proposed text amendment would allow these uses as Special Uses in the C-1 zoning district.

 

Special uses are reviewed by the Planning & Zoning Commission, with a recommendation forwarded to City Council.

 

The Planning & Zoning Commission voted 6 to 0 to APPROVE the proposed text amendment.

IMPACT IF APPROVED:  The Unified Development Code will be amended to allow Tattoo, Palmist, Psychic or Medium, or Massage Parlors as Special Uses in the C-1 (General Commercial) zoning district.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The Unified Development Code will not be amended.  Tattoo, Palmist, Psychic or Medium, or Massage Parlors will not be allowed in the C-1 (General Commercial) zoning district.
