BACKGROUND:
The last half of this year will have an unprecedented complexity of software upgrades and implementations occurring - with CAD, RMS and Energov making concurrent demands on the team. The Senior member of the public safety software management team has elected to take an Early Retirement Incentive (ERI). Normally, he would have been the technical lead and planner for both the CAD and RMS projects. As a result, we are concerned about our ability to manage these events and have been working with a specialist in IT project management and implementation (Oakstar) to develop plans for these projects and reporting standards for the team.

Oakstar is uniquely positioned to continue the work that they helped the team plan. Originally, we started working with Oakstar as a support role to help plan and upskill the team in the face of these large, complex projects. With the departure of staff, we are looking to request more time and greater responsibility from Oakstar to ensure the successful management of these projects.

Software Background:
Since 1999, the Peoria Police Department has used ADSi public safety software. Applications currently used include field reporting for direct entry/retrieval of incident reports, traffic accident reporting, computer aided dispatch (CAD), electronic ticketing, automated vehicle locator, and GPS mapping for squad cars.
