BACKGROUND: The Fire Department has a Lifepak 12 Defibrillator that is 10+ years old (two+ years past its expiration date) that will be replaced by the new Lifepak 15 Defibrillator. This Lifepak 12 Defibrillator will be traded into Stryker Medical for a $4,500 trade-in savings on the cost of the new Lifepak 15 Defibrillator.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the Lifepak 15 Defibrillator is $24,920.73, which includes the $4,500 trade-in savings. Funding is available in account #4012201-5054-99 (Project #F2101).
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
IMPACT IF APPROVED: State-of-the-art equipment will be available on Fire Department response units, thereby improving the quality of pre-hospital emergency care for those experiencing sudden cardiac arrests or heart related ailments.
IMPACT IF DENIED: The quality of pre-hospital emergency care may be severely impacted due to the age of the current unit.
