Title
Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request for the Following [Council District 1]:
A. APPROVE a STATE MOTOR FUEL TAX (MFT) RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $50,000.00, for the WESTERN AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT from ADAMS STREET to HOWETT STREET, Design MFT Section #16-00368-00-EG; and,
B. APPROVE a STATE MOTOR FUEL TAX (MFT) RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $2,635,250.00, for the WESTERN AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT from ADAMS STREET to HOWETT STREET, Construction MFT Section #16-00368-01-PV.

BACKGROUND: The reconstruction of Western Avenue, from Adams Street to Howett Street began in March, 2021. Work in 2021 will be concentrated on Western between Malone and Lincoln, and the remaining work will be completed in 2022. A federal grant in the amount of $2.35 million supports this project.
The design section MFT resolution will support staff labor effort, per the approved project budget.
The construction section MFT resolution will support construction expenses, per the approved project budget.
The Joint Agreement related to the Western Avenue construction was approved by Council as Item #20-205 on August 11, 2020.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding will come from State Motor Fuel Tax revenue (design MFT Section #16-00368-00-EG and construction MFT section #16-00368-01-PV) and Community Investment Plan Project R2016 Western Avenue, Adams to Howett.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: N/A
