Communication from the City Manager and Community Development Director with a Request to ADOPT an ORDINANCE Amending the DEFINITION of TIRE BUSINESSES in CHAPTER 18 of the CODE of the City of Peoria.

Body

BACKGROUND:  On August 10th, 2021, the City Council adopted an ordinance requiring “Tire Businesses” in the City of Peoria to obtain an annual license to help combat illegal dumping.  At the August 24th, 2021 City Council Meeting, Councilman John Kelly asked for language to be added to the ordinance to clarify that the license applies not only to businesses with a physical address in the City of Peoria, but also for tire businesses who do work within the City of Peoria limits related to the ordinance regardless of their physical location.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  NA

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Better regulation of tire businesses will help with illegal dumping concerns in our neighborhoods.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Ordinance language will be clear.
