Title

Communication from the City Manager and Public Works Director with a Request to APPROVE a STATE MOTOR FUEL TAX (MFT) RESOLUTION, in the Amount of $1,210,000.00, for the WESTERN AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT from ADAMS STREET to HOWETT STREET. (Council District 1)

BACKGROUND: The reconstruction of Western Avenue, from Adams Street to Lincoln Avenue began in March 2021. Work on Western between Malone and Lincoln was completed in 2021, and the remaining work from Malone to Adams will be completed in 2022. A federal grant in the amount of $2.35 million supports this project.

 

The attached Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Resolution will fund construction expenses.

 

The Joint Agreement related to the Western Avenue construction was approved by Council as Item #20-205 on August 11, 2020.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  Funding will come from State Motor Fuel Tax revenue (construction MFT section #16-00368-01-PV) and Community Investment Plan Projects R2016, R2116, R2217 Western Avenue, Adams to Lincoln.

 

 

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS:  Staff is committed to keeping the public informed and involved throughout the duration of this project.  

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Project expenses will be paid with State Motor Fuel Tax Dollars.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  Other funds will be needed to pay the project expenses.
