Title
Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE a PURCHASE with REHRIG PACIFIC COMPANY, in an Amount Not to Exceed $44,624.00, for 702 New 95-GALLON GARBAGE CARTS, for Replacement and Inventory. (All Council Districts)

Body
BACKGROUND: As part of the 2018 Solid Waste Collection contract, the City of Peoria has taken over the management of the residential garbage carts. Currently, we are running low on inventory of the 95-Gallon City of Peoria Garbage Carts. Public Works has been distributing on average 100 carts per month. This purchase will allow Public Works to have inventory on hand of the 95-Gallon Garbage Carts in order to provide residents with new carts if theirs are damaged or missing. These carts will come with a 10-year warranty for full replacement.

The carts from the original purchase are coming to an end of their useful life within the next few years. Cart replacements requests are expected to increase moving forward. Public Works is working on a cart replacement plan.

Rehrig Pacific Company is the vendor from which GFL purchased the City's residential garbage carts, so this will allow the cart designs to be consistent. These carts will be purchased through Sourcewell RFP #041521, a cooperative purchasing agreement.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding will come from the refuse collection fund. Account number 2113051 504019.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Citizens often call to request new or replacement carts due to theft, damage, or other circumstances. Replenishing our stock of 95-gallon carts would help ensure that City of Peoria residents have the means to properly dispose of their trash.

IMPACT IF APPROVED: Residential customers with damaged or missing trash carts will get new carts.

IMPACT IF DENIED: There will be no additional City of Peoria trash carts available for customers with damaged or missing carts. This could lead to customers improperly disposing of their trash. ...
