Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request to APPROVE a PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT with CORBIN DESIGN, for an Amount not to Exceed $40,000.00 for the DOWNTOWN WAYFINDING PROJECT.
Body
BACKGROUND: In 2018 the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission funded a Special Transportation Planning project for Downtown Wayfinding Project. Tri-County Regional Planning Commission supported the City's request for funds for a downtown wayfinding plan. Tri-County programmed $58,000.00 and the City pledged $17,000.00 for an estimated $75,000.00 total project cost. Corbin Design from Traverse City, Michigan was selected as the consultant to develop the plan.

Over the course of several months, the steering committee worked with Corbin to develop a Downtown Wayfinding plan, which entailed concept design and specification and a map of proposed locations. Additionally, public comment was gathered at an open house held on June 5, 2018 at the Gateway Building. The project was completed by the end of 2018. The deliverable for this project was full design of sign for a family of motorist and pedestrian wayfinding signage for Peoria's Downtown, a cost estimate, location map for installation and specification for the manufacture of the signs. These documents will help City staff implement the Downtown Wayfinding Plan, as funding is available.

The project went on hold until funding was available. Funding for Downtown Wayfinding is included in the 2022 budget. Staff is requesting authorization to enter into an agreement with the original vendor, Corbin Design, to complete the plans and specifications so the project can be put out to bid.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract will be funded out of CIP project Downtown Wayfinding Implementation M2204.

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: Wayfinding signs will help Peoria residents and visitors to find features and amenities in the downtown area.
