Communication from the City Manager and Director of Information Systems with a Request to RECEIVE AND FILE an AGREEMENT with CROWDSTRIKE to Provide Cyber Security Technology, in the Amount of $59,106.02.

BACKGROUND:
Update: The IS department is working with the State of Illinois's DoIT department. We were provided with the full suite of products under the State license until the SLGCP launches, which would provide those licenses under the grant program. The City will not need to execute the attached agreement and would respectfully request that Council Receive and File this item.
As technology has become engrained in everything we do; we are at constant risk of a cyber-attack and other technology-based threats. It is imperative that we secure our data and infrastructure more so than we have done in the past. Multiple municipalities, educational institutions and organizations locally have experienced a cyber-attack that were costly and took them offline for extended periods of time. To improve and protect our systems, we hired a Cyber Security Manager. He has taken a deep dive into our current environment and reached out to multiple vendors to determine the best plan of action to secure our software, hardware, networks, and infrastructure. With that, we have decided that CrowdStrike provides the best partnership moving forward for the City of Peoria. They not only have a very robust and thorough Cyber Security business model, but they are the most cost effective. The sooner we can implement applications to protect us from bad actors, the better.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding this software will come from the Information Systems budget. Without this protection, we could have significant impact to our budget if we were to experience a ransomware attack or other cyber security attack.
NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: There are no concerns. This is an operational need.
