Communication from the City Manager and Director of Public Works with a Request for the Following: (Council District 3)

A. APPROVE an AGREEMENT with the ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (IDOT) for the City's Participation in TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAST ARM REPLACEMENTS in Peoria and Canton, Illinois; and,

B. APPROVE a FUNDING RESOLUTION for the City's Cost Participation in the TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAST ARM REPLACEMENTS, in the Amount of $18,814.00, Plus Contingencies.

BACKGROUND: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), in order to facilitate the free flow of traffic and ensure the safety of the motoring public, is desirous of modernizing existing traffic signal installations by installing new traffic signal mast arms, posts, signal heads, concrete foundations, underground conduit, electrical cabling, luminaires, pedestrian push button posts with Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS), and by performing all other work necessary to complete the improvements in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. The City is desirous of the improvements that same will be an immediate benefit to the motoring and pedestrian public.

IDOT has agreed to make the surveys, prepare plans and specifications, receive bids, award the contract, furnish engineering inspection during construction, and cause the improvement to be built in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract. IDOT has also agreed to pay for all construction and engineering costs, subject to reimbursement by the City, as stipulated.

The City will provide partial funding for this project. The City will be responsible for up to 125% of the estimated costs of the traffic signal.

The total cost of IDOT's project is estimated at $509,565.00.
