BACKGROUND:  This property has been damaged on numerous occasions and the subject of 5 separate traffic incident reports since 2006. Two of those crashes involved a vehicle leaving the roadway and striking the house causing significant damage. Staff has reviewed options for road improvements that might mitigate the condition, however, any options to prevent a vehicle from leaving the roadway at the location would create an addition hazard to the motoring public. Accordingly, the only prudent approach to create a safe condition for all parties is to purchase the property and subsequently remove the structure from parcel.    

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:  $131,000 will be utilized from existing funds within the Capital Fund.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS: An unsafe condition exists at this location. 

                     

IMPACT IF APPROVED: A safe condition for all parties.

 

IMPACT IF DENIED:  The unsafe condition will remain unchanged with no safe alternatives.
